AEM - East Spring Secondary School

28 Mar 2011. A group of secondary school students from East Spring Secondary School attended a five-day course at the School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology (DMIT). They attended a course on the "Fundamentals of Infocomm Security". This was a valuable opportunity for the seconday school students to attend the enrichment programme in Singapore Polytechnic.

The students enjoyed the practice-oriented learning approaches and allow them to have a taste of how polytechnic courses are conducted. Overall, it was a wonderfull experience for the secondary school students.

CEH/ECSA/CHFI Professional Certification Exams

18 Mar 2011. Congratulations to the following students who passed the EC-Council professional certification exams, namely:

AEM - Hillgrove Secondary School.

18 Mar 2011. Twenty secondary school students from Hillgrove Secondary School attended a five-day course at the School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology (DMIT). The course entitled as "Fundamentals of Infocomm Security", gave students an overview of infocomm security and how one can protect and strengthen a system with various applications. Students were coached to identify system vulnerabilities and threats such as malware and trojan horses and how to prevent viruses from spreading.

It was an interesting learning journey as students learnt many topics ranging from classical security objectives, physical security, firewall,wireless security, etc. Students were required to perform a literature research and to present their findings at the end of the course. Overall, it was quite an exciting learning experience and students enjoyed the polytechnic's learning environment.

EC-Council Circle of Excellence Awards

11 Mar 2011. Two DISM Year-3 students recieved the EC- Council Circle-of-Excellence Awards during the DMIT Infocomm Industry Day 2011. The award reccipients are:

Wireless Security Workshop on 5th March

A wireless security workshop was held on 5th of March with participants coming from year 1's and even graduates from SP! This workshop has taught them that default settings router are not safe and people could possibly hack into their facebook and twitter accounts just by listening to the decrypted messages in the air!

DISM Certified Ethical Hackers

2 Mar 2011. DISM students returned to the SP Infocomm Security Lab to take their Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) exam. After the intense four hours of exam, they passed their CEH exam.
