DISM FYP selected for demo at Singapore FinTech Festival 2018

We were proud to be invited to showcase our DISM FYP Blockchain based IP Trackback (BITE), at the Singapore FinTech Festival held at Singapore Expo on 12-16th Nov 2018.

The Final Year Project Blockchain based IP Traceback (BITE) utilizes blockchain technology, together with traditional packet marking solutions to determine the origins of Internet Protocol (IP) packets accurately, at the same time, ensuring the integrity and authenticity of the recorded information. This Internet packet tracing solution can then be used to trace the origin of a cyber-attack so as to identify adversaries with greater confidence.

BITE makes use of Dynamic Probabilistic Packet Marking (DPPM) to mark the IP packets so the path taken by the IP packet may be traced. To ensure the authenticity of the data, BITE also uses the Tendermint Open-Source Blockchain technology to verify that the route taken by the IP packet had not been tampered with by ensuring consensus is met before the transactions are updated to the nodes.

After the presentation, our students shared some technical details of the project with their fellow peers from other polytechnics.
