Congratulations to our Diploma in Infocomm Security Management (DISM) year-2 students, for winning the hackathon as Champion, in the PolyFinTech 100 API Hackathon 2020 Grand Finals.
The team, FLASHCASH from SP DISM course, consisted of team leader, Chloe Ong WeiTing and members Wong Yik Leong and Chua Yi Le (year-2 students) from DISM course. Their team coach was Mr. Samson Yeow, DISM Course Chair.

The hackathon was held on Friday, 11 December 2020, having contested against 6 category winners, FLASHCASH team from SP School of Computing (SoC) emerged as the Champion! The team walked away with a cash prize of S$4,000.

FLASHCASH team's winning proposal was to create an application that would grant users basic financial services such as loans, transfer, transactions and a basic e-commerce platform. Below showed a screen shot of the mobile app's prototype created using the API.
This year, the virtual hackathon had attracted the participant of over 60 teams and 300 Students. The emerged 7 finalist teams competed in the grand finals. Students from the 5 local polytechnics participated in the hackathon to develop Fintech prototypes using Open APIs from the industry to address real world problem statements, with the mentorship from the sponsoring industry partner.

The competition was an annual event initiated by Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), organised by the five polytechnics in Singapore and sponsored by financial industry partners which consisted of Monetary Authority of Singapore, Association of Banks Singapore, Blockchain Association Singapore, CitiVentures, Matchmove, NETS, OCBC, OneConnect, PayPal, Prudential and Tribe Accelerator.
Once again, kudos to the SP FLASHCASH team.
